SFRP is a new model in cooperative forestry research that builds on the strengths of existing cooperative research programs by reaching across organizational boundaries to attract support from broader segments of the forestry community.

We encourage our members, non-members and others in the forestry community to review the document, which offers you multiple opportunities to engage and help direct research in focused disciplines.
Southern Forestry Research Compendium
A Summary of Southern Forest Researchers and Research Focus Areas. This publication highlights the researchers in SFRP’s Centers of Excellence. In order to present an adequate summary of research being conducted within the SFRP, individual researchers are consolidated into six SFRP Centers of Excellence.
Southern Forests - Fueling the Future
The development of a forest based energy infrastructure in the Southern United States has the capacity of producing the equivalent of approximately 52 million barrels of oil annually from conventionally harvested wood residues. Beyond that, the forest of the South have the potential to accommodate a 20% increase in wood removal and still maintain sustainable production.
